Shabby/Vintage Cones

Hello everyone! Tammy R. here with you today bringing you some shabby/vintage cones. I am thinking Mother's Day for these little cuties!

I think I am going to set them on the plates at the table... only 26 more to go.

I made four of them to show you different ideas. The instructions will be for assembling one cone because they are all very similar... just mixing up the embellishments.

die cutting
Using the new Brenda Walton Cone & Medallions dies, die cut one cone and one scalloped medallion from patterned paper.

To shape the cone, crease the scored lines. Accordion fold the scalloped medallion.

Adhere the two sides of the cone together.

With a small hole punch, make a hole in the bottom of the cone (at the very tip) being careful not to get too close to the end. Attach a jump ring thru the hole, add a pearl dangle and squeeze the jump ring closed. I wrapped a piece of washi tape at the bottom of the cone on a couple of them before making the holes. I might add that the die comes with a bottom piece that you can wrap around the bottom of the cone that is really, really pretty.

Adhere the two ends of the medallion together, flatten and adhere the center making sure to use some strong adhesive.

Using the Flowers, 3-D die, die cut the small flower from felt, assemble the flower and adhere a rhinestone in the center of the flower. Adhere a piece of lace behind the felt flower, then adhere a vintage doily on the back of the medallion. Adhere the medallion to the cone. Adhere the small leaf to the right side of the medallion towards the top. Stick the "Joy" pin in at the top of medallion. Tie a piece of jute string around the medallion tying it into a bow at the bottom of the medallion.

For the handle, thread a piece of jute string thru a side hole in the top of cone, make a double knot and repeat for the other side.

Just another idea is to adhere a wooden button with some lace behind the button and adding a word sticker with a mini clip or...

add a resin frame with a pearl heart in the middle of the frame.

You are all finished!

  4. These are beautiful. I really like that this die is a bigz die and you can cut it with any material. I wish more of Brenda's dies were bigz instead of sizzlets. These cones would be a great place for a gift card, especially if she is a crafter and addicted to sizzix dies, I would love a gift like that.
